Shade Sails and Indoor Blinds – oh, my! As you may have noticed, living in the tropics, sun protection is a world unto itself.
Discover the difference between shade sails and internal blinds for your own home furnishings.
Shade Sails
Shade sails create shade and sun protection for exposed outdoor spaces. Our shade sails are custom made to suit your circumstance using quality shadecloth, UV thread and stainless-steel fittings.
Life Expectancy
The average lifespan of a shade sail is about 10 years. In saying that, we have had customers return for replacement shade sails that are 15-20 years old.
The lifespan can increase or decrease depending if it has been installed and maintained properly and also weather conditions. The tension of a shade sail can play a big role in shade sail longevity. If it is loose and flapping around constantly this can causing friction on the fabric as well as wear and tear on the attachment points. So keep your shade sail taut for peak performance!
Proper Care
Make the most of your shade sail with proper maintenance just like other household products. Keep yours in excellent working order by following these few simple steps.
Clean Regularly
Recommended every 6-12 months. Cleaning your shade sail fabric ensures all environmental residues are removed to increase the life of the fabric, while reducing the likelihood of stains or growth (such as mould) on the fabric.
Removing foliage not only keeps the cover fresh and new it protects it and makes it more efficient.
Hose down your shade sail using a general-purpose hose (not a high-pressure hose). For stubborn marks you can try detergent/soapy water or sugar soap and a soft brush. The brush be soft and must not be applied to fabric in such a way as to damage the weave of the shadecloth.
Quality Control
Small holes may form in your shade sail fabric from flying debris etc. We encourage our clients to keep an eye out and contact your shade sail professional to determine if any maintenance/repairs are required to uphold fabric integrity.
Use as Directed
Shade sails are designed to withstand heat, wind and rain, though heavy storms and cyclones are another story. To keep your shade sail in good condition, err on the side of caution and take it down before big storms, excessive winds or tropical cyclones hit.
Need Indoor Blinds?
There are countless indoor blinds to choose from and advantages to every style. Here’s a quick guide to some of our most popular picks for reference.
Internal Shutters
Our internal shutters, also called plantation shutters are synthetic shutters engineered specifically to cope with moisture, heat and UV rays without peeling, denting or chipping. In short, synthetic PVC shutters are the perfect all-round lifestyle choice. Available in four different blade widths.
Panel Glide Blinds
Panel glide blinds are perfect for large door openings. The fabric panels range from 140-630mm wide and are connected & overlap eliminating gaps. With an easy-to-use wand control, the tracking system allows the fabric to stack away in one easy glide action for complete openness and usability. Available in light filtering and blockout fabrics, with a variety of patterns and textures to choose from.
Roller Blinds
Roller Blinds are a very popular window treatment option and can be an economical option to cover and protect your windows. The clean look of a roller blind feels natural and inviting in any home interior. Offered as a single or dual (day/night) blind in a wide range of fabric choices including blackout, sunscreen and translucent.
Roman Blinds
Roman blinds are an elegant and contemporary blind, particularly suited to rooms which require full block out fabric as they are best installed on face of your window opening to minimise gaps for light to filter through. The horizontal folds stack on top of each other and when completely raised can act as a pelmet to your window frame for a clean and minimalist modern look.
Veri Shades®
Veri Shades are super versatile – spanning up to six metres making them ideal for large door openings. The soft fabric hangs beautifully like a curtain but because there are no weights or chains, you can walk through them anywhere, whether they’re open or closed.
Venetian Blinds
For a traditional window covering solution for your Townsville home or office, you can’t beat the classic aluminium Venetian blind. The Venetian blind is versatile, hardwearing and suited to any room. Commonly available in a 25mm blade but also available in the wider 50mm blade.
